6 Reasons Why We Are Moving the Summer Camp Professionals Group to Different Software

Wait, what?

Indeed. The Summer Camp Professionals Facebook Group is moving to new software (called Circle.so) by April 30, 2023. Come check it out now with a free trial*! https://summercamp.pro

Why Would You Do That? Don’t We Have Enough Change in Our Lives? ⤵️

  1. An Easier-To-Use Tool - we want to make it quick and efficient for Camp Pros doing vital work to find the information or the help they need to make a difference in children and young adults’ lives. 🎼 “I just want to celebrate…”🎵 having a SEARCH FUNCTION THAT REALLY WORKS.

  2. Engage Younger Camp Pros - young Camp Pros don’t use Facebook. Many folks have had to create a Facebook account just to use the old Group. With the new Circle.so Software, we can escape FB and make our own space using the lessons we’ve learned over the last 13 years.

  3. Simpler Moderation - modding the FB Group is acceptable and easy most days. When it is not, it is very complicated. Circle.so gives us much more efficient moderation tools and keeps the tone and professionalism we all appreciate in the Group.

  4. Moderator Appreciation - because we’re moving to software that requires users to make a small annual payment, we can do more for the Mods than a Thank You Note and some stickers occasionally. If we can offer a small honorarium, we hope to be able to diversify the faces and abilities of the people who contribute so much to the Camp Community.

  5. It’s Like Discord for Professionals - it’s a format that many are familiar with (think forums before Facebook, or Slack, or, yes, Discord) and so the transition will be smooth for most.

  6. This Software, Can Grow With Us - Circle.so gives us a greater ability to serve camps and other folks who work with Camp Pros. With this software, camps can create their own “staff training program” or “camp wiki” so that that work will not have to be redone yearly. With Circle.so camps can host their internal group chats and those training features at the same home as the world’s largest camp discussion group and you can show them all of the cool things going on in the wider camp world.

* To get 50% off the minimal annual fee, make sure you’re a subscriber to Go Camp Pro USEletter!
